Embassy (2018)
(FM Radio, Raspberry Pi, Twitter API, Node.js)

Embassy is a sound installation that monitors and reacts to the Twitter accounts of over 250 US and Russian embassies worldwide. Each time one of these accounts tweet, a random selection of archival audio pieces from the Cold War period is broadcast over FM radio. Embassy engages with (misplaced) nostalgia for simplified geopolitical dichotomies and critiques the idea of ‘new’ and ‘old’ technologies, offering instead a world of hybrid analogue and digital communications, networks and infrastructures.
